Printer Compatibility Guide — Carl Valentin ILX, SRD, HOMAG & HOLZMA
Industrial label compatibility is configuration-specific. A label should not be described as universal simply because its face size looks correct. Before ordering, match the print method, media width, roll core, winding orientation, roll diameter and the installed printer or applicator setup.
Legacy Carl Valentin ILX 81/12
SRD supports label-media selection for legacy Carl Valentin ILX 81/12 installations. Carl Valentin's legacy documentation specifies the ILX 81/12 at 300 dpi, up to 300 mm/s, with an 81 mm print width and 90 mm passage width. The original ILX was offered in direct-thermal and thermal-transfer versions.

SRD ILX and ILS systems
For SRD ILX and ILS installations, select media from the actual model designation and installed configuration. SRD can help confirm DTL versus TTL, roll size and winding direction from a machine nameplate and a photo of the current roll.
Zebra industrial printers
SRD also supplies industrial label media for selected Zebra printing applications. Because Zebra models and media paths vary, confirm the exact printer model, print method and roll dimensions before treating a product as a drop-in replacement.
HOMAG CNC and HOLZMA production workflows
HOMAG CNC equipment and HOLZMA panel saws are production systems in which label printing may be integrated into part-identification workflows. They are not being presented here as printer models. The correct label depends on the printer or print engine installed in that production line.
What to confirm before ordering
- Exact printer or print-engine model
- Print method: direct thermal or thermal transfer
- Media/liner width and passage width
- Roll core diameter
- Outside or inside winding
- Maximum roll diameter
- Sensor/media configuration
Important 4 × 2 orientation note for the legacy ILX 81/12
The legacy ILX 81/12 has a 90 mm passage width. A 4-inch dimension equals 101.6 mm, so it cannot run across that passage. A 4 × 2 format must be wound with the 2-inch dimension (50.8 mm) across the web, and the remaining roll specifications still need to match the installed machine.
