Carl Valentin ILX 81/12 Labels & Compatibility

SRD Labels supplies industrial label media for legacy Carl Valentin ILX 81/12 installations used in CNC, cabinet-manufacturing and panel-processing workflows. This guide covers the original ILX 81/12 generation that Carl Valentin now lists as discontinued; it should not be confused with the newer ILX V generation.

• Label core: 40 mm or 76 mm

• Interfaces listed in the legacy manual: RS-232C, parallel/SPP, USB 2.0 and Ethernet 10/100 Base-T

Direct thermal or thermal transfer?

The legacy ILX platform was offered in direct-thermal and thermal-transfer versions. Do not choose a roll only from the model name. First confirm how the installed ILX 81/12 is configured:

• DTL / Direct Thermal: select direct-thermal label media when the installed printer is configured for direct thermal printing.
• TTL / Thermal Transfer: select thermal-transfer label media when the installed printer uses a transfer ribbon.

If you are unsure, send SRD a photo of the machine nameplate, the current roll and the ribbon area before ordering.

Label size and winding orientation

The ILX 81/12 has an 81 mm print width and a 90 mm passage width, so label orientation matters.

• 3 × 3 labels: a 3-inch face dimension is 76.2 mm, which is below the 90 mm passage width. The actual liner width, printable area, winding direction and sensor setup still need to match the installed machine.
• 4 × 2 labels: the 4-inch dimension is 101.6 mm, so it cannot run across a 90 mm passage. For this format, the 2-inch dimension (50.8 mm) must run across the web, and the finished roll/core configuration must still match the printer.
